Judy Paice, PhD, RN is the director of the cancer pain program in the Division of Hematology-Oncology and a research professor of Medicine at Northwestern University Feinberg School of Medicine. She is also a member of the Robert H. Lurie Comprehensive Cancer Center. Dr. Paice is presently a member of the NIH HEAL Initiative Multidisciplinary Work Group and has served as president of the American Pain Society and secretary of the International Association for the Study of Pain. Among her many contributions to the specialty, Dr. Paice has traveled widely to educate healthcare professionals regarding cancer pain relief and palliative care. She serves on the editorial board of several journals, is the author of more than 170 scientific manuscripts, and she was one of the original consultants in the ELNEC Train-the-Trainer program. In 2018, Dr. Paice was named one of the 30 Visionaries in the field by the Academy of Hospice and Palliative Care.
Mary Lynn McPherson, Pharm.D., MA, MDE, BCPS is professor and executive director of Advanced Post-Graduate Education in Palliative Care in the Department of Pharmacy Practice and Science at the University of Maryland School of Pharmacy. Dr. McPherson also holds a master's degree in Instructional Systems Development and a master's in Distance Education and eLearning. She is the executive program director of the Online Doctor of Pharmacy, Master of Science and Graduate Certificate Program in Palliative Care at the University of Maryland. Dr. McPherson has maintained a practice in hospice her entire career. She developed the first palliative care pharmacy residency in the U.S. and has won numerous awards for teaching and innovative practice in end-of-life care. Dr. McPherson published numerous articles, chapters, and five books including the second edition of the best selling Demystifying Opioid Conversion Calculation: A Guide to Effective Dosing.
The Hospice and Palliative Nurses Association (HPNA) is accredited as a provider of nursing continuing professional development (NCPD) by the American Nurses Credentialing Center's (ANCC's) Commission on Accreditation under Provider number P0284.
Successful conference session completion awards the RN participant 4.0 NCPD credit hours (60 minutes per credit hour) in blended activity format. Attendees must attend the session in its entirety, attest to attendance at the time of the evaluation, and complete/submit the online evaluation within the time frames specified.
